The V.A. Degtyarev Plant has received a patent for a firearm with a "bullpup" layout and a hammer-fired trigger mechanism. The "bullpup" layout is a configuration where the magazine and firing mechanism are located behind the trigger. This significantly reduces the overall length of the weapon without shortening the barrel, maintaining accuracy and firing range.

A feature of the new design is that the magazine and firing mechanism are offset relative to the vertical axis of symmetry of the weapon. The hammer is located opposite the side surface of the magazine, and the firing pin is set at an angle to the bolt axis. This solution allowed the rifle to be significantly shorter than traditional counterparts without losing range and accuracy.

The rifle is equipped with a removable firing mechanism. The sear (the part that holds the hammer) is connected to the trigger via a rod. Both parts are spring-loaded. The bolt carrier with the charging handle is connected via a bayonet lock and moved forward – beyond the trigger. This is done for ease of reloading and compactness.

As noted in the patent description, the technical solution provides compactness of mechanisms and ease of weapon maintenance. Among the plant's well-known products are the "Kord" heavy machine gun, the "Pecheneg" general-purpose machine gun, and the GP-25 under-barrel grenade launcher. The development may be in demand by special forces due to its reduced dimensions and low weight.
