The nuclear submarine "Poseidon", which was originally created specifically for underwater vehicles, went for factory sea trials for the first time on August 17. The Project 09851 submarine was taken out of Severodvinsk to sea – this is a new stage in the program for creating standard carriers for the 2M39 system.

After the completion of trials, "Khabarovsk" is planned to be transferred to the Pacific Fleet.

Analysts from the Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies (AST Center) clarified that Project 09851 provides for the placement of six 2P39 launchers for 2M39 underwater vehicles of the "Poseidon" system. The exact characteristics of the submarine and its armament are not officially disclosed.

In October 2025, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the testing of the underwater "Poseidon". The power of the device significantly exceeds the power of the most promising intercontinental missile "Sarmat".

In parallel, Russia has already begun developing new 5th generation submarines, noted the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Alexander Moiseev.
