Russian servicemen of the 506th Guards Motorized Rifle Regiment spoke about an unusual scheme for protecting ammunition. They began to fill the free guides of the Grad multiple launch rocket system with logs. This is done to prevent damage from drone attacks.

Instead of a full ammunition load of 40 rockets, the vehicle receives approximately half. The freed guides in the upper part of the package are filled with logs.

According to the crew's plan, this barrier can absorb some of the impact from a drone hit or explosion near the launcher and reduce the risk of damage to the remaining ammunition.

Russian crews are increasingly facing attacks from FPV drones, heavy Baba Yaga drones, and Hornet devices. Therefore, engineering thought found a simple way to enhance equipment protection.

The unusual scheme with logs does not replace the standard protection means of the MLRS, but is a field solution that the crew uses for additional cover of ammunition from air threats.
