The promising S-71M "Monochrome" munition is undergoing combat testing, according to "Rossiyskaya Gazeta". Unlike its predecessor, the S-71 "Kover" family, which targets coordinates, "Monochrome" operates on the principle of a "smart hunter".

The munition independently flies to a designated area, after which its neural network guidance system begins scanning the terrain. It compares observed objects with reference features, ranks them by importance, and either attacks the target autonomously or requests confirmation from the operator.

The new munition can be carried by modernized fifth-generation Su-57 fighters, as well as heavy S-70 "Okhotnik" strike drones. The start of "Monochrome" testing in combat conditions confirms that Russian aviation continues to improve its arsenal of high-precision weapons with artificial intelligence elements.
