The Ukhta Experimental Mechanical Plant has received a patent for a gas turbine exhaust gas control damper. The development is intended for the oil, gas, and energy industries. The device is based on a damper connected to an axle and a drive shaft. The rotating units are made of graphite bushings, which ensure operation at high temperatures. The damper axle can move along the bushings, compensating for thermal expansion of the metal.
Graphite bushings are not afraid of high temperatures and allow the axle to shift when heated without jamming. If parts wear out, they are replaced with ordinary tools without disassembling the entire structure – this saves time and money. A spacer ring and bushing prevent the damper from touching the walls of the gas duct. The bushings themselves are hidden in cups that are easy to remove, and replaceable sleeves are fitted onto the axle and shaft – these are also changed without complete disassembly.
This solution simplifies maintenance and extends the service life of gas turbine exhaust systems. The Ukhta Plant mass-produces equipment for the energy and oil and gas industries.
