The construction of the Paks II NPP in Hungary is proceeding as planned, despite a change in the customer's leadership. Over 18,000 m³ of concrete has already been laid for the foundation of Unit 5, and excavation for the "nuclear island" is underway at Unit 6, reported Rosatom head Alexey Likhachev.

According to Likhachev, Rosatom has already established working contact with the new head of the customer, and no changes that could affect the construction have occurred yet. The Russian side is ready to answer questions from the Hungarian leadership, but has not yet received any official inquiries on this matter.

On Unit 5, more than 80% of the concrete pouring for the reactor building's foundation slab has been completed. Work began in February 2026, and pouring is planned to be finished before winter.

Earthworks for the construction of the "nuclear island" continue at the Unit 6 construction site. All stages are being carried out according to the established plan, and the first concrete pouring for this facility is scheduled for late 2026.

In parallel, equipment for future reactors is arriving at the site. A core melt trap for the new power unit has already been delivered to Hungary. Metal blanks for the Unit 5 reactor have been manufactured, after which its assembly will begin. The production of the Unit 6 reactor vessel is also proceeding on schedule.
