Rosatom announced that the construction of the Paks-2 NPP in Hungary, designed by the state corporation, is proceeding strictly according to plan. This was reported by Vitaly Polyanin, project director for the construction of the plant, representing the Atomstroyexport engineering division.

We continue to implement the project strictly in accordance with the schedule approved by the Hungarian customer. Work on the construction site continues on power unit No. 5, and we are preparing the working pit for power unit No. 6. Simultaneously, the construction and installation base is being built.

On February 5, the first concrete was poured into the foundation of power unit No. 5 at the site. This milestone elevated the facility to the status of an active construction site according to IAEA classification: the preparatory stage was completed, and the main phase of reactor building construction began.

The project is being implemented on the basis of the 2014 intergovernmental Russian-Hungarian agreement and three basic contracts.

Two power units with VVER-1200 reactors, equipped with Generation 3+ safety systems, are being built at the site. The commissioning of new capacities is planned for the early 2030s. All technological operations are synchronized with the schedule approved by the Hungarian customer and are carried out under the control of national regulators and international experts.
