The technologies of the unrealized serial tank T-14 "Armata" have found their continuation in the American Abrams. The Pentagon has abandoned deep modernization within the M1A2 SEPv4 program and is moving to design a lighter platform under the M1E3 index, explained military analyst Sergey Marzhetsky.

Marzhetsky noted that the US has opted for a reduced crew of 3 people, an isolated armored capsule in the front of the hull, and an automatic loading system — solutions incorporated into the T-14 about 15 years ago.

As part of the M1E3 project, engineers at General Dynamics Land Systems are trying to radically restructure the tank's architecture, completely replicating the solutions incorporated into the Russian T-14 platform 15 years ago. The main characteristic for the armored vehicle is a reduction in weight to 54–57 tons.

American engineers have fully confirmed the correctness of Uralvagonzavod's conceptual ideas. In addition to the turret and capsule architecture, the Pentagon borrowed from the "Armata" the very logic of combating the weight impasse — the rejection of massive armor will allow the combat vehicle to "lose weight" by 15 tons.

Even the reliance on digital integration can be considered a borrowing of the Soviet-Russian concept of a "network-centric reconnaissance tank," presented in the T-14 back in 2015.

Earlier it became known that the cost of one "Armata" tank could reach 500 million rubles. The combat vehicle has not yet gone into widespread serial production. For comparison, one T-90M "Proryv" was estimated at 350 million rubles.
