Marina, a resident of St. Petersburg, found a demand on "Gosuslugi" to pay 40.9 million rubles for unpaid parking, "Telekanal 78" reported. The astronomical sum arose due to a technical error: instead of the fine amount, the OKTMO code of the bailiff service was entered into the documents. The debt was later annulled.

It all started a year and a half ago when the woman could not pay for parking in the city center due to an application malfunction. She did not appeal the issued fine, and when the bailiffs initiated a case, it turned out that the court had also managed to impose a "fine on a fine." As a result, the amount corresponding to the FSSP unit code, and not the actual debt, was entered into the database. Marina herself said that when she called the bailiff, she heard laughter in response and an assurance that it was a mistake.

The arrest of accounts was partially lifted, but the debt is still displayed on the public services portal. The City Parking Management Center promised to investigate the situation. The incident shows how vulnerable automated systems are: one error in the code can turn an overdue parking fine into a multi-million ruble recovery.
