The Russian S-400 air defense system has begun to demonstrate new approaches to its use, which can increase the effectiveness of detecting and destroying aerial targets, Military Watch Magazine reports.
The publication's experts emphasize the importance of integrating multiple radar systems, long-range missiles, and the tactical application of the complex. The S-400 "Triumf" stands out not only for its long engagement range but also for its ability to function within a single control system, where target information comes from various detection sources.
For long-range intercepts, the complex can use external targeting from other radar assets, including airborne early warning aircraft.
Analysts pay special attention to the tactics of using the S-400. Instead of operating as separate batteries, the complex can be used as part of a multi-layered air defense system, where different detection and engagement assets complement each other. This complicates enemy attempts to determine the location of system elements and conduct an effective attack.
