The Belarusian company Agat-System has modernized the TA-23 field telephone. The device has been certified and adopted by the State Authority for Military Industry of the Republic of Belarus. The device operates in local battery mode over two-wire field cable lines and is fully compatible with standard TA-57 and TA-11 devices.

A feature of the TA-23 is its ability to establish direct communication channels without switching stations. The device can also be integrated into manual telephone exchanges or connected to radio stations for communication over the air.

Power is implemented in three independent modes. The primary mode is autonomous, from six AA batteries. For stationary use, connection to an external DC power source of 7–34 V is provided. If the batteries are dead or absent, the call signal is generated by a built-in inductor generator, which operates by rotating a crank by the operator or from the calling subscriber.

The device's design features a shock-resistant casing that withstands extreme temperatures and high humidity. The TA-23 does not contain complex microelectronics, which simplifies repairs in the field, where communication must not fail under any circumstances.
