Russian warships were spotted in the North Sea a few miles off the British offshore wind farm Galloper. The increased attention of Western analysts was caused by the location of the ships near the facility, which is considered part of the UK's critical energy infrastructure.

According to British observers, the Baltic Fleet's patrol ship "Neustrashimy" of Project 11540 "Yastreb" and the reconnaissance ship "Vasily Tatishchev" of Project 864 "Meridian" were in the area. It is reported that the vessels performed maneuvers in the North Sea waters east of the Galloper wind farm.

The very fact of the presence of Russian ships near the British coast caused discussion among Western military analysts. The main reason was the location of Galloper - one of the key offshore wind farms in eastern England, providing electricity to a significant part of the region.

No official statements from the British authorities regarding any violations of international maritime law or dangerous actions by Russian ships had been received at the time of publication. There is also no information in open sources about any incidents during their presence in the wind farm area.

Galloper is located approximately 27 kilometers off the coast of Suffolk and includes 56 offshore wind turbines with a total installed capacity of about 353 MW. The facility was commissioned in 2018 and is considered an important element of the British energy system.
