Two new specialized environmental vessels have joined the Rosmorport fleet. The oil and garbage collectors "MNMS-Lebed" and "Eko-1", built under project NE028, were launched from the slipways of the "Onezhsky Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant" in Petrozavodsk.

The new vessels have already been assigned to their respective areas: "Lebed" will protect the waters of the Astrakhan basin, while "Eko-1" will be on duty in the North-Western water region.

Both vessels are multifunctional environmental fighters. They are equipped with everything necessary to eliminate the consequences of man-made pollution: from collecting floating debris to pumping out water-contaminated oil products – from heavy fuel to fuel oil and diesel. The crews' arsenal includes boom barriers, chemical neutralizers, and a high-performance brush skimmer. The system's productivity allows it to collect up to 120 cubic meters of oil-water mixture from the water surface in just one hour.

In the near future, the vessels will have a long journey to their permanent deployment locations. For "MNMS-Lebed", the transit to the port of Astrakhan will be associated with severe ice conditions, so it will be accompanied by the icebreaker "Avraamiy Zavenyagin". This powerful nuclear-powered icebreaker is also heading to the Caspian Sea to reinforce the local icebreaker group in anticipation of winter navigation.
