Specialists of the scientific and production firm (NPF) "Tekhinkom" have increased the number of tests using a ballistic complex several times over the past 2 years to modernize the unified combined-arms body armor 6B45 (part of the "Ratnik" equipment). This was reported by the press service of the "Kalashnikov" concern.
NPF "Tekhinkom" supplies 6B45 body armor under a state contract. In agreement with the customer, engineers are implementing structural improvements in individual protective equipment.
The use of the ballistic testing complex (KBI) and the climatic chamber is aimed at selecting compositions of aramid fabrics, as well as for substituting a deficit – replacing it with a non-woven material based on ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene.
In addition, specialists want to lighten ceramic-composite armor panels.
The main purpose of the KBI is to test body armor for anti-fragmentation resistance. It is used for incoming control of materials used for ballistic protection (checking them upon receipt at production). The complex is also indispensable for testing other products manufactured by NPF "Tekhinkom".
In addition to 6B45, the company produces assault body armor models – 6B13, 6B43, as well as tactical combat equipment. For the civilian market, NPF "Tekhinkom" produces accessories for athletes, travelers, and outdoor enthusiasts.
