Specialists from the Leningrad Optical-Mechanical Association named after Lenin (JSC "LOMO", part of the "Kalashnikov" concern) have put into operation an X-ray television system for controlling the internal structure of products, materials, and welded joints. This was reported by the concern's press service.
How the equipment works
The product is placed in a specialized chamber with lead shielding. The X-ray beam passes through the part, and a flat-panel detector converts the resulting image and displays it on the screen. If there are cracks, pores, or other defects on the part, specialists will immediately notice them.
The "Kalashnikov" press service emphasized that this approach simplifies and speeds up quality control.
Digital image processing, archiving, and the ability to analyze images in detail without film development make the process more efficient and visual.
The use of the X-ray television system is safe for employees. The equipment will not turn on if the protective chamber doors are open.
To monitor the radiation situation, the enterprise also acquired a DKS-AT1123 dosimeter from Atomtekh. The device confirms that the radiation background in the laboratory does not exceed the norm.
