Voice control in cars will receive a state quality standard for the first time. According to a document from the Russian government, reviewed by TASS, Rosstandart will issue a regulation by December 2028, establishing requirements for voice control systems for on-board equipment and vehicle functions.

Rosstandart, Minpromtorg, and Mintrans are responsible for the development, in cooperation with ANO "Platform NTI", the "Autonet" working group, and the "Autonet" infrastructure center. The standard is being created as part of the improvement of the National Technology Initiative in the "Autonet" direction and should not only unify the car's "understanding" of commands but also create conditions for integrating cars into an intelligent transport system, opening up a new market for services.

Currently, voice assistants in cars are an area of complete freedom for manufacturers: each implements speech recognition in its own way, without regard to unified criteria for reliability and safety. The emergence of a standard means that the command "turn on the heater" will be processed equally predictably regardless of the make and model. For the market, this is a signal for the appearance of certified solutions; for the driver, it is a guarantee that the voice assistant will not fail at a critical moment.
