The longliner-processor "Marlin" left the pier of the "Severnaya Verf" shipyard and set off to its permanent base in Murmansk, from where it will sail into the Barents Sea for fishing trials. After that, the vessel will take on fishing gear and bait and go fishing, "Pervy Tekhnichesky" was informed by the USC press service.

"Marlin" is the second vessel of project MT1112XL, built by "Severnaya Verf" for fishing enterprises within the framework of the state program "Quotas for the Keel". The concept was developed by the Norwegian bureau Marin Teknikk AS, but the working design documentation for construction was prepared by the Russian design bureau "Forss-Marin". As the general director of the customer company Andrey Zaika noted, the share of Russian equipment on the vessel is about 40% - this includes the refrigeration unit and the fish processing factory. The "Marlin", 58 meters long, 13 meters wide and with a displacement of 2200 tons, is capable of catching up to 25 tons of fish per day. Its autonomy is 45 days, the volume of the freezer hold is about 600 tons of finished products. The crew consists of 36 people.

Meanwhile, the lead longliner of project MT1112XL, "Gandvik-1", has been successfully fishing in the Northern fishery basin for over a year. Longline fishing is one of the most environmentally friendly methods of fishing, which does not damage the seabed and preserves the habitat of hydrobionts. The project vessels are designed for catching cod, haddock, catfish, halibut and other fish species in the Barents, Norwegian and North Seas. The "Marlin" has a modern full-cycle factory on board with equipment for deep processing, freezing and storing the catch.
