Almost 60 years after its first flight, the Mi-8 family continues to ramp up production. Kazan Helicopter Plant received an order for 72 Mi-8MTV-1 helicopters at once.

The new machines will be built in 2026–2027. Previously, the enterprise had already produced 86 Mi-8MTV-1 helicopters under a similar scheme.

The Mi-8MTV-1 can carry up to 23 passengers or up to 4 tons of cargo. Its maximum take-off weight reaches 13 tons, and its speed is up to 250 km/h. The basic flight range is about 500 km, and with additional tanks of 915 liters each, it can increase to 1050–1300 km.

KVZ reported revenue of 58.4 billion rubles for 2025, which was slightly lower than the 2024 result. The reason was a sharp drop in export orders, and building helicopters for the domestic market turned out to be much less profitable.

Domestic orders provided KVZ with a profitability of 17.4%, while external orders provided 61.6%, which is more than 3.5 times higher.
