The new Moskvich M70 and M90 models failed to achieve high demand in the Russian market. Since the start of sales, Russians have purchased only 491 cars, while the main part of the brand's sales is still provided by the Moskvich 3 crossover. This is reported by Vedomosti, citing car registration data.
Market participants interviewed by Vedomosti believe that one of the reasons for weak sales was fierce competition with Chinese brands offering a wide range of models in the same price segment. In addition, buyers carefully evaluate the cost, equipment, and reputation of cars before purchasing.
Experts also note that the appearance of new models in itself does not guarantee sales growth. For a successful market entry, the manufacturer needs to form a competitive price offer, ensure sufficient brand awareness of the cars, and expand dealer support.
Moskvich itself previously stated that interest in new models is gradually increasing, and car production continues in accordance with approved plans. However, current statistics show that the M70 and M90 have not yet become mass-market models and have not significantly affected the brand's overall sales.
Earlier, "Pervyy Tekhnicheskiy" reported that the Moskvich 3e unexpectedly dropped in price by almost 700 thousand rubles. The new price made the electric crossover one of the most affordable in its class.
