For the first time, Uralvagonzavod presented a new version of the T-80 tank, equipped with improved turret protection and a closed anti-aircraft machine gun mount.

The new version appeared alongside the already known T-80U and T-80BVM. Specialists' attention was drawn to the closed 12.7-mm anti-aircraft machine gun mount, as well as additional protective screens installed on the turret. Previously, this variant had not been publicly demonstrated.

According to experts, the design may represent a further development of the modernized T-80UE-1 tank, which has already proven itself during operation in the troops. However, the official technical characteristics of the new version have not yet been disclosed.

Experts note that the T-80 family retains high potential for further modernizations. Thanks to constant updates of protection systems and equipment, gas turbine vehicles remain relevant and capable of meeting modern requirements for main battle tanks for many years to come.

Earlier, the American publication Military Watch Magazine reported that Russia intends to keep T-80 tanks among the main combat vehicles of its army. Separately, representatives of Uralvagonzavod announced the development of an all-aspect protection complex for the T-80 family, which should increase the resistance of equipment to modern drones.
