At the Yandex Lavka ready-to-eat meal production facility in St. Petersburg, a robotic manipulator has been launched for product shipment. The device with a vacuum gripper transfers sealed trays from the conveyor to shipping boxes, preparing orders for dispatch. According to the company, packaging speed has increased by 30% compared to manual labor.
The robot picks up not one tray at a time, but an entire layer, which ensures higher productivity. The gripper is designed to work with packages of different weights and shapes, and the equipment is cold-resistant, operating at temperatures around 4 °C.
The freed-up employees have shifted to quality control and logistics management. The St. Petersburg plant produces up to 85,000 portions of ready-to-eat meals per day, with a total weight of 24 tons.
