Starting July 1, real estate transactions can be completed entirely online - with biometrics and electronic signatures

Starting July 1, it will be possible to register an apartment or house in Russia entirely online – without leaving home, but with mandatory identity verification. This will require biometrics and an electronic signature.

Documents for registering the transfer of ownership will be submitted through a special section on "Gosuslugi" – "Real Estate Acquisition," which is included in the list of life situations.

To register real estate transactions completely remotely, participants will need to undergo biometric registration in advance at special centers at bank branches – take a selfie and record a voice sample, as well as obtain an enhanced qualified electronic signature (UKEC).

This is expected to significantly increase security. Even if attackers obtain someone else's electronic signature and password, they will not be able to complete the transaction without face and voice verification in the system.

At the same time, experts believe that complete digital protection does not negate the need to check the legal purity of the object and other terms of the transaction – risks still remain at the level of the real estate itself and the documents.
