The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs recommended that citizens get a separate card specifically for savings and not use it for regular online purchases. It is especially dangerous to keep large sums of money on cards linked to delivery services and popular marketplaces.
The agency emphasized that such cards are more likely to attract the attention of criminals. Daily activity in online stores increases the chances of data leakage, and a large balance makes the owner an attractive target.
MIA experts suggest several practical steps. In the banking app, it is advisable to enable restrictions on night operations and set reasonable limits on transfers and cash withdrawals. For maximum protection, it is recommended to issue a voluntary ban on credit issuance through Gosuslugi – this will block attempts by fraudsters to take out a loan in someone else's name.
