New 48 MW Gas-Fired Thermal Power Plant to Appear in Yakutia

The project has already been approved by the Russian government, and the plant is scheduled to be commissioned in 2030.

A new 48 MW gas-fired thermal power plant will be built in Yakutia. The project will be implemented by ALROSA after the construction is approved by the Russian government, and electricity supplies to the wholesale market will begin on October 1, 2030. The new energy facility will operate on natural gas.

According to the approved parameters, the capacity of each power unit will range from 2 to 50 MW. The power plant will be built using gas piston units.

The new plant is expected to strengthen Yakutia's energy infrastructure and provide additional generating capacity for the region.

ALROSA is one of Russia's largest diamond mining companies. The company operates in Yakutia and the Arkhangelsk region, engaging in exploration, mining, sales, and cutting of diamond raw materials.

Earlier, "Pervy Tekhnichesky" reported that "Gazprom began commissioning the South Yakutsk TPP with Chinese turbines." The plant with new gas units will add 220 MW of capacity and strengthen the energy supply of the Eastern Polygon of Russian Railways.
