ODK Reaches General Electric and Rolls-Royce Level

United Engine Corporation actively uses digital twins of power plants. Such technologies were previously only available to global manufacturers of units — General Electric, Rolls-Royce, and Pratt & Whitney.

Using the AI-222-25 engine for the new Yak-130 as an example, the press service explained how a digital twin affects the further production of power plants.

The digital automatic control system monitors every parameter, ensuring high flight safety.

Now, the corporation's engineers can test new solutions in a digital environment, reducing the number of full-scale tests on stands, as well as automate complex calculations and implement new design solutions.

This is not just resource saving. This is the future of engine building, where modernization happens many times faster.

However, in the case of "digitizing" aircraft, it's not that simple, explained Evgeny Guryev, head of the design department at PAO "Yakovlev". According to him, for now, it's more about a digital prototype, not a digital twin. The technology itself has only been described, but even Boeing and Airbus do not possess it.
