Rostec modernized the Delta drone: the new version accelerates to 260 km/h

Rostec presented a modernized version of the Delta unmanned aerial vehicle, which received a jet propulsion system. Thanks to the new design, the drone's speed increased to 260 km/h.

The new modification is based on the already known Delta platform, but instead of a piston engine, the developers installed a compact Delta Turbo jet engine. At the same time, the aerodynamic scheme has practically not changed: only the tail surfaces have been modified, while the body itself has retained its previous layout.

According to the stated characteristics, the drone is capable of covering a distance of up to 200 kilometers and staying in the air for up to 45 minutes. Another difference of the new version is the standard camera installed in the nose of the apparatus.

The transition to a jet propulsion system reflects a trend that has become increasingly common in recent years in the development of unmanned platforms. This approach allows for a significant increase in flight speed without a complete redesign of the aircraft, while maintaining the already proven aerodynamic scheme and the main elements of the airframe.
