The "Vysokotochnye Kompleksy" holding company has created the "Shmel" automated humanitarian demining complex based on the "ANT" mini-loader (from English "ant"). Maxim Kadakov, the chief editor of "Za Rulem" magazine, tested the technology in action.
The machine, using a special trawl, is capable of effectively neutralizing anti-personnel mines. The trawl is equipped with impact elements on chains, which, when the shaft rotates, sweep the ground to a depth of up to 25 centimeters.
Currently, prototype "Shmel" units are being operated in areas where this option is particularly in demand.
The "ANT" (Ant-1000) mini-loader is manufactured at the Kovrov Electromechanical Plant. Its lifting capacity is 1000 kilograms. The machine is equipped with an 85-horsepower power unit with a hydrostatic transmission, which provides separate drive for the leading wheels and high maneuverability. For improved cross-country capability, rubber tracks can be installed on the wheels. Instead of a cabin, the "Shmel" has a compartment with control devices. Control is carried out remotely via the "Prometey" software and hardware complex, with a radio channel range of up to 1 kilometer.
