For the Russian military-industrial complex, launching the T-14 "Armata" tanks into mass production may even be cheaper than increasing the output of the T-90M "Proryv". This was stated by Military Watch Magazine (MWM).
The Western magazine compared the T-90M "Proryv" and T-14 tanks. While the former is a modification of the half-century-old T-72, the "Armata" is a completely new platform with a priority on crew survivability.
The introduction of even a small number of T-14 tanks could potentially be much less costly due to their greater survivability and upgradeability.
The authors stated that the annual production volume of the T-90M could reach 1000 tanks by mid-2028, and 3000 by mid-2035. They named the relatively simple design as the main advantage of the T-90M.
Earlier it became known that the cost of one "Armata" tank could reach 500 million rubles. The combat vehicle has not yet gone into wide serial production. At the same time, the price for one "Proryv" was estimated at 350 million rubles.
