Russia exports high-speed transport and landing craft "BK-16E" (Project 02510) to Africa. The development by Kalashnikov Concern is effective in combating terrorists. This was stated by a representative of the concern following the International Maritime Show "Fleet-2026".
The boats are high-speed, sufficiently armed for such tasks, and unpretentious in use. These are all the characteristics that are effective in combating pirates and maritime terrorists.
"BK-16E" are designed for operations in coastal zones, personnel transportation, landing of up to 19 people, fire support, and medical evacuation.
Boat characteristics:
- Speed — up to 42 knots
- Cruising range — up to 400 miles
- Armored wheelhouse and troop compartment
- Protected engines
- Armament: 4 machine guns of 7.62 mm caliber in tandem with a combat module or 2 grenade launchers of 12.7 mm caliber
The "BK-16" series of boats was built by order of the Russian Navy. The basic version was first presented to the public in 2015 at the "Army" forum. The export version was shown there in 2024.
