Rostselmash revealed details of the engineering solutions that allow the TORUM 785 rotary combine to maintain high productivity on wet fields, slopes, and when working with wide-cut headers. The manufacturer explained which technologies underpin one of the most powerful machines in its lineup and enable it to operate stably under varying loads.
According to the manufacturer, one of the key elements of the TORUM 785 is its advanced rotating system. The combine is equipped with a rotor 762 millimeters in diameter. In one revolution, the flow of grain mass passes through three threshing zones at once, and the threshing and separation area reaches 5.4 square meters. At the same time, the entire surface of the concave is utilized around the circumference, ensuring more complete use of the working space.
Another feature of the machine is the stepless hydromechanical rotor drive with hydraulic control. The rotation speed smoothly changes in the range from 250 to 1000 revolutions per minute without jerks or stops.
According to the manufacturer, the system automatically responds to changes in load, whether it's lodged crops, high humidity, or clogging, maintaining stable operation of the threshing apparatus. The elimination of belt drives further reduces the volume of service maintenance.
The new feeder house received a chain-slat conveyor with an adjustable angle of attack, a single hydraulic connector for attaching adapters, and an electro-hydraulic terrain following system. This ensures uniform mass feeding, accelerates header changes, and maintains stable operation on uneven field sections.
Engineers paid special attention to grain cleaning. The two-cascade system with a sieve area of 5.2 square meters is equipped with a two-section fan with a hydraulic drive. The basic configuration includes a 4D cleaning system that compensates for longitudinal slopes. As a result, the airflow is distributed more evenly, grain losses on slopes are reduced, and the operator can adjust the position of the sieves directly from the cab.
