By the end of May 2026, the Russian automotive market ranked sixth among European countries, dropping one position compared to April, when it was fifth. This conclusion was reached by experts from the Avtostat agency, analyzing data from the consulting company GlobalData.
The leader in sales in Europe is Germany: 239,448 cars (+0.1%). Great Britain took second place with 160,662 cars (+7.1%). Italy maintained its third position with 150,096 units (+7.7%). France is in fourth place with 128,484 cars (+3.7%). Spain closes the top five with 111,894 cars sold (-0.8%).
Russia is in sixth place. In May, 109,892 new passenger cars were sold in the country, which is 20.5% more than a year earlier. Dmitry Yarygin, Deputy Head of the Analytics Department at Avtostat, noted that among all European markets presented, the Russian market showed the best dynamics at the end of spring. In addition, the domestic market has exceeded the 100,000 cars sold mark for the third consecutive month.
