"Inter RAO" to Accelerate 170 MW Turbine Production to 4 Per Year to Replace Siemens

The corporation is looking for opportunities to acquire new machine-building assets

Starting from 2028, "Inter RAO" corporation plans to increase the production of 170 MW turbines to four per year. This was announced by the head of the company, Sergey Dregval.

According to him, the first samples of the 170 MW high-power turbine are expected in 2028.

High-power turbines are in high demand both for internal orders of the "Inter RAO" group and for external customers.

Dregval added that the holding is considering the possibility of acquiring new machine-building assets, provided a profitable deal.

Russia already has a turbine of similar capacity — GTE-170 from "Silovye Mashiny".

The creation of a second production site for high-power turbines, in addition, will reduce the dependence of the Russian energy system on single suppliers, including Siemens and General Electric.
