Roskomnadzor denies restricting Steam's operations in Russia. The agency informed "Kommersant" that the gaming platform is not being blocked, despite user complaints about outages.
Problems with access to the service began on June 1. The peak of complaints occurred between 11:00 and 13:00 Moscow time. According to Downdetector, up to 15,000 people have complained about Steam's operation in the last 24 hours.
The causes of the outage have not been officially specified. Amidst the complaints, users began discussing possible restrictions, but Roskomnadzor stated that it had not imposed any measures against the platform.
Earlier, in early May, it became known that the agency had filed lawsuits against at least seven major foreign game studios. The reason was the companies' refusal to comply with Russian legislation requirements regarding personal data. Among the defendants were Electronic Arts, known for the Sims, Battlefield, and FIFA series, as well as Take-Two Interactive Software, which releases Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption.
