Russia is creating uncrewed vessels for cargo delivery to Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands

"Klipper" and "Briz" will be able to transport containers along Northern Delivery routes

Russia is developing uncrewed vessels for container cargo transportation. The technology is planned to be used for Northern Delivery and island logistics for Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands, said Deputy Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Vasily Shpak in an interview with RIA Novosti.

ZAO "SiProekt" is building two uncrewed vessels, "Briz". Their launch is scheduled for 2026. In parallel, another unmanned vessel, "Klipper", designed for container transportation, is being developed.

In 2025, the Russian uncrewed vessel "Strannik" made an experimental voyage to Moneron Island in the Sakhalin region, delivering parcels. The experimental route confirmed the possibility of using autonomous vessels to supply hard-to-reach territories.

Earlier it was reported that China remains one of the most sought-after destinations for goods delivery to Russia. The most efficient and stable logistics routes are built through it. The main cargo flows from China go to Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novorossiysk, and Vladivostok.
