MTZ Solves Weichai Engine Problem on BELARUS Tractors

Changes in maintenance rules and additional unit equipment reduced the number of failures by half

On BELARUS tractors, from January to April 2026, the number of Weichai engine failures related to dust wear decreased by more than twofold compared to the same period last year. This was reported by OAO "MTZ".

MTZ notes that the problem is not related to the quality of the engines themselves. The main reason cited is the violation of air filter maintenance rules.

According to the company, machine operators often continue to use the prohibited practice of blowing out filter elements, which leads to fine dust entering the cylinder-piston group and accelerated wear. Incorrect installation or insufficient tightening of filters also has a negative impact.

To reduce risks, BELARUS tractors have started to install additional air pre-cleaners, which can retain up to 90% of dust. New systems are being implemented both on the assembly line and in farms during equipment maintenance. Simultaneously, the air purification system is being refined, and alternative engine options for energy-intensive tractor models are being considered.
