Buyan missile ships with Kalibrs protected against drones for the first time

Anti-UAV nets spotted on Project 21631 MRK "Orekhovo-Zuyevo"

Footage of the small missile ship "Orekhovo-Zuyevo" of Project 21631 with new passive protection elements has appeared online. Anti-drone nets were placed above the superstructure of the warship.

Apparently, this method of protection was a response to the increased threat from drones.

The design consists of metal or nylon mesh screens mounted on special support posts.

The main task of such nets is to intercept a drone on approach, causing its premature detonation at a safe distance or simply entangling it in the mesh.

This will help prevent direct hits to vital components of the MRK — the navigation bridge, radars, or vertical launch systems of the Kalibr-NK missile complex.

Before this, photos of submarines "Mozhaisk" of Project 636.3 and "Dmitrov" of Project 877EKM with installed elements of additional drone protection went viral online.
