One Helicopter - Dozens of Tasks: Ka-226T Can Be Reconfigured in 45 Minutes

Rostec announced global demand for the rotorcraft's modular design

Rostec predicts high interest in the modernized Ka-226T helicopter, whose key feature is a modular design with the ability to quickly change the machine's purpose. According to the state corporation, this function could become one of the main demand drivers both in Russia and in foreign markets.

The Ka-226T is capable of performing a wide range of tasks: from cargo and passenger transportation and patrolling to search and rescue and medical evacuation operations. The modular design allows the helicopter to be transformed into various configurations in just 45 minutes.

The updated Ka-226T is undergoing flight tests with the domestic VK-650V engine and demonstrates stable operation in all modes. The machine is initially designed as a universal platform, capable of quickly switching between different types of tasks without extensive structural modifications.

The developers pay special attention to the coaxial rotor scheme, which ensures stability and controllability in difficult weather conditions, including strong crosswinds and thin air at altitude. The Ka-226T is also designed to operate from confined areas and in dense urban environments.
