Russian industry has sufficient capacity to produce millions of unmanned aerial vehicles of various types. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Vasily Shpak on the eve of the “Wings of Sakhalin” forum.
If we talk about production capacities for manufacturing UAVs of all types and classes, from the lightest to the heaviest, I think our industry is definitely capable of producing about 15 million per year today.
According to the ministry representative, the issue is not in quantity, but in the effectiveness of drone application. It is necessary to produce deeply localized models, use modern materials, advanced electronics, and advanced control algorithms, Shpak concluded.
Russia produces drones for civilian and military purposes. According to open sources, up to 60 thousand civilian UAVs were produced in 2025. The volume of production of strike and reconnaissance drones is not disclosed.
