"Rostelecom" is preparing the "Leshiy Connect" system, which will allow mass and remote management of subscriber routers and modems: updating firmware, changing settings, diagnosing failures, and doing so without user intervention. The company has already applied for the inclusion of "Leshiy Connect" in the register of domestic software. This is reported by Cnews.
The system is designed for mass remote management of home routers and modems. It will allow the operator to centrally update devices, configure internet and IPTV, check connection quality, communication speed, and Wi-Fi parameters.
"Rostelecom" explains the launch of the system by cybersecurity and network stability objectives. Home routers often become a weak point: if attackers gain access to them, they can control internet traffic, personal data, and even "smart home" devices.
"Leshiy Connect" should reduce such risks through regular updates, diagnostics, and centralized control.
The scale of implementation is stated to be large. By 2026, up to 50% of subscriber devices are planned to be transferred under the system's management, and by 2027, about 7 million routers.
The platform is being developed as a replacement for the foreign solution Axiros, which the operator previously used.
The company explains the name "Leshiy Connect" with a metaphor: just as the mythical Leshiy (forest spirit) maintains order in the forest, the system should maintain the "health" of the ecosystem of millions of routers.
