Beeline's 5G appeared abroad earlier than in Russia

Fifth-generation communication is already available in more than 30 countries worldwide

"VimpelCom" (Beeline brand) has started connecting 5G for its subscribers abroad. The company reported that fifth-generation communication is already available in more than 30 countries, including Turkey, Thailand, China, UAE, Egypt, USA, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia, and Georgia.

Beeline stated that the new roaming already covers the most popular tourist destinations and is available to approximately 80% of the operator's customers using communication abroad.

5G technology allows for increased mobile internet speeds and reduced connection delays. However, in Russia itself, a full-fledged commercial launch of fifth-generation networks is still being prepared. The Ministry of Digital Development previously expected the start of 5G implementation in the country in 2026.

It was also previously reported that Russian operators are discussing with the Ministry of Digital Development the possibility of obtaining frequencies for 5G without auctions. In return, companies may be obliged to cover cities with a population of over a million by 2031.
