Moving to another region should no longer mean a problem with your mobile number. Russians will be allowed to keep their usual phone number not only when changing operators, but also when moving between regions. The corresponding resolution of the Russian government has already been signed.
The new feature will be available from September 1. Citizens will be able to keep their mobile phone number when moving to another region.
To do this, you will need to submit an application to the telecom operator. This can be done in person or remotely – through the operator's official website, the database of ported subscriber numbers website, or through the "Gosuslugi" portal.
Currently, when moving to another city and keeping the number, a person continues to use the old tariff plan. Because of this, calls in some cases can become noticeably more expensive.
After the changes, it will be possible to keep the number when moving to another region even when changing telecom operators. The development of the subscriber number portability procedure is provided for by the action plan for the implementation of the Communication Industry Development Strategy until 2035.
The government explained that this should make communication services more flexible and convenient for citizens, and also help develop competition in the industry.
