Sevmash, manufacturer of Borei-class nuclear submarines, implements artificial intelligence at the enterprise

AI will help accelerate preparation for product manufacturing and reduce the time it takes to launch products into workshops

Sevmash, a leading manufacturer of Borei-class strategic nuclear submarines within the United Shipbuilding Corporation (OSK), has begun implementing artificial intelligence (AI) into its production and management processes. This project is part of a large-scale modernization of the enterprise's production system, which includes transitioning to a process-based approach to work organization.

The implementation of AI is aimed at increasing the efficiency and quality of production processes, as well as optimizing management decisions. It is expected that new technologies will reduce task completion time, minimize errors, and improve control over all stages of production.

The system is being deployed within a secure internal circuit, adhering to the corporate information security standards of the United Shipbuilding Corporation.

Currently, specialists are redesigning the processes for comprehensive production preparation; subsequently, neural network algorithms will be connected to project management and operational planning of workshop load.

In the future, AI will take over the automation of labor norming, processing official correspondence, and other routine operations. As experience and data accumulate, the scope of technology application will expand.

Vladimir Kukushkin, Head of Production System Development, noted that while conventional automation provides an efficiency increase of tens of percent, the use of intelligent algorithms allows for a manifold improvement in performance.
