A video has appeared online showing an uncrewed boat being hit by a "Kornet" anti-tank missile system in the Black Sea. This may be the first recorded instance of an ATGM being used against a naval target of this type.
Presumably, the ATGM crew was on the shore. Despite its "anti-tank" specialization, the "Kornet" is initially capable of hitting not only armored vehicles but also surface targets.
The system uses laser beam guidance, which allows the operator to accurately track the target until impact. The maximum firing range reaches 10 km. Modern versions of the complex, including the "Kornet-D", have also expanded their range of tasks and are capable of engaging high-speed aerial targets.
Military expert Evgeny Damantsev in the summer of 2025 called the "Kornet" missiles an effective way to destroy high-speed BECs.
