Be-12 "Chaika" Destroys USV in Black Sea with Anti-Submarine Bombs

Russian military uses proven low-altitude bombing tactics

A retired military pilot and author of the Telegram channel Fighterbomber showed footage of the combat use of the legendary Be-12 "Chaika" amphibious aircraft, which successfully struck an unmanned surface vessel (USV) in the Black Sea. Anti-submarine aerial bombs PLAB-250-120 were used as ammunition — a time-tested weapon effective for attacking surface targets at low altitudes.

Unlike modern strike systems, such as guided FABs used with the Su-34, the use of high-precision systems was deemed impractical in this case.

The Be-12 dropped bombs in the classic way — through the cargo compartment, not from external hardpoints. To ensure stability and slow down the fall, the munitions are equipped with parachute systems, which allows for accurate targeting even during low-altitude approaches.

Such tactical decisions allow for the effective use of outdated but reliable equipment in new conditions, especially when dealing with small and high-speed threats, such as USVs.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that domestic unmanned boats began to carry out combat duty at Russian naval bases.
