Asteroid 2026 HN1 will fly past Earth. The cosmic object is comparable in size to an airplane or a small building. According to NASA, the asteroid will approach Earth on May 6, 2026.
The size of asteroid 2026 HN1 is about 60 meters, according to NASA estimates. However, European specialists suggest it could reach up to 110 meters.
The closest approach will occur on May 6 at approximately 03:54 Moscow time. At this moment, the asteroid will pass at a distance of about 3.5 million km from Earth. This is approximately nine times further than the distance to the Moon.
The asteroid is moving very fast – about 14 kilometers per second. This is over 50 thousand kilometers per hour.
According to experts, there is no cause for concern. The cosmic object will pass relatively close to Earth by astronomical standards, but will remain at a safe distance. Scientists track such asteroids in advance.
