An innovative technology is being created in Russia that will help detect dangerous asteroids in a timely manner. Researchers from Volgograd State University are working on methods for three-dimensional asteroid modeling, which will make it possible to accurately determine their sizes, shapes, and potential threat.
Professor Ilya Kovalenko of VolSU explained that the new technology will use super-resolution pulsed signals.
While such a short-pulse signal moves, skirting the surface of the asteroid, it is reflected differently from various terrain details, which potentially makes it possible to build an image of the celestial body along the line of sight.
As part of the research, it is planned to create three-dimensional models of asteroids using advanced methods of computer modeling.
