100 rubles that cost as much as an apartment: a rare 5 million ruble banknote put up for sale in Novosibirsk

Collectible rarity or inflated ambitions: understanding the price of the lot

An advertisement for the sale of a collectible banknote with a face value of 100 rubles for 5 million rubles appeared on a popular trading platform in Novosibirsk. The lot was put up by a local resident, Maria, who had previously purchased this banknote at a bank.

This is a commemorative banknote issued for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The banknote belongs to the AA series – this is the first wave of issue, which is of particular interest to numismatists. The front side features a QR code leading to the Bank of Russia resource with a description of security features.

The seller considers the requested amount justified. Maria noted that similar specimens in the collectible market are sometimes valued even higher – up to 10 million rubles. At the time of publication, the advertisement had not generated a rush of demand, but the owner of the banknote expects an increase in interest in the lot from serious collectors.

The real value of such banknotes is formed at auctions and depends on the preservation, series, and confirmed rarity of the specimen. Buyers are advised to check authenticity through official Bank of Russia channels and avoid transactions without guarantees.
