The Tank Support Combat Vehicle (BMPT) "Terminator" is capable of completely destroying a forest belt in just one minute thanks to its automatic twin 30-mm 2A42 cannons. This was reported by fire support platoon commander Alexander Petrin.
According to him, the firepower of the "Terminator" is enormous. In 60 seconds, the BMPT fires up to 800 rounds at a rapid pace.
One 2A42 cannon can mow down an entire forest belt in literally a minute. It's even scary to raise your head there.
It should be noted that Petrin did not mention anything about the overheating of the guns at such a rate of fire. The 2A42 cannon is a powerful weapon with gas-operated automation, and such a rate of fire comes at the cost of colossal heating.
As mentioned above, the "Terminator" has not one cannon (like the BMP-2), but two. This is done, among other things, to combat overheating. The operator can fire first from one, then from the other, allowing the barrels to cool down.
Alternatively, one cannon can be loaded with armor-piercing rounds, and the other with high-explosive fragmentation rounds. This allows not only choosing the type of projectile but also distributing the thermal load.
Earlier, Russia came up with an easy way to convert the T-90M "Proryv" and T-72B3M into the BMPT "Terminator". Only an adapter ring will be required to replace the turret.
