Russia is discussing a new format for business lending – using the digital ruble. Anatoly Aksakov, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Financial Markets, stated that such a mechanism could be tested using the example of the Chuvash plant "Sespel".
According to him, the enterprise itself put forward the initiative. Aksakov noted that the Central Bank views the idea with understanding, which makes the launch of a pilot project quite realistic. The deputy emphasized that he would be interested to see Chuvashia among the first regions where enterprises could receive loans in the digital form of the national currency.
The region is already participating in a pilot project for the introduction of the digital ruble into the budget process. The Head of Chuvashia, Oleg Nikolaev, previously reported that test scenarios for using the technology have been successfully worked out, and a full-scale practice is planned for 2026.
The republic's authorities intend to accelerate the implementation and expand the use of the digital ruble. In the future, this could involve not only settlements but also the full use of the instrument in business financing.
If the project is implemented, it will be one of the first examples of using the digital ruble in enterprise lending – and an important step towards its wider adoption in the economy.
The "Sespel" plant manufactures and supplies semi-trailers and tanks of various types: cement carriers, flour carriers, fuel tankers, oil tankers, bitumen carriers, water carriers, feed carriers, as well as tanks for chemical products.
