The physical launch of the first power unit of the Rooppur NPP in Bangladesh is expected in the coming days. This was announced by Alexey Likhachev, Director General of the Rosatom State Corporation.
According to him, the nuclear power plant will become for Bangladesh not just a new source of generation, but a strategic solution capable of improving the quality of life of the population for decades to come and forming a sustainable energy basis for economic growth.
In the coming days, we expect to reach the physical launch of the first power unit of the Rooppur NPP.
Likhachev emphasized that in the current global conditions, the launch of its own nuclear generation is not only an energy task but also a matter of national security and long-term sustainability of the country.
The construction of the Rooppur NPP is being carried out according to a Russian project with VVER-1200 reactors. This is the first nuclear power plant in the history of Bangladesh. Its commissioning will meet the growing demand for electricity and reduce dependence on fuel imports.
